Combines a 50W power supply with a soldering handpiece that allows you to do both SMT and through-hole rework. With two switchable outputs, an additional handpiece can be added at a later time to adapt the system to your exact needs. Like all Metcal systems, the MX-500S features interchangeable tip cartridges that utilize SmartHeat® technology and a compact power supply with automatic power shut-off (after 30 minutes of non-use) that maximizes tip cartridge life. The MX-500S system is ESD-safe and meets Mil-Specs. It operates on 100/120VAC and includes a two-port switchable power supply with power cord, soldering/rework handpiece (without tip cartridge), workstand with sponge, and cartridge removal pad. Optional "tweezer style" Talon® or pistol-grip desoldering upgrade kits can add a second handpiece to the MX-500S system.
